Carry adequate water, use strong sun protection and avoid strenuous activity during extreme midday heat. If leaving paved roads for remote desert locations, use appropriate transport and avoid depending solely on a phone connection for navigation.
Road conditions also require attention. U.S. travel guidance warns that rural roads can be narrow or poorly paved and that flash flooding during Morocco's wetter months can damage roads or wash away vehicles. Night driving requires additional care because rural lighting can be poor.
Petty theft is possible throughout Morocco, particularly in busy markets and tourist areas, although the risk profile in Erfoud differs from that of the largest cities. Keep valuables secure and avoid leaving them visible in parked vehicles.

Entry & Exit Requirements
Erfoud follows the same immigration requirements as the rest of Morocco.
For U.S. citizens, current State Department guidance says no tourist visa is required for stays of 90 days or less. It lists a passport valid at entry, specifies at least six months' validity at the time of entry, and requires one blank page per stamp.
Travelers who stay in Morocco beyond 90 days without arranging an extension may have to appear before a judge before departure and may be required to pay a fine.
Travelers using other passports should check Morocco's requirements for their particular nationality before departure, since visa rules vary and can change.
