Travelers are responsible for carrying a valid passport and meeting Morocco’s entry requirements for their nationality and travel dates. Passport validity and visa rules can vary by citizenship. Check the latest requirements with the appropriate Moroccan consular authority before travel. We recommend keeping a photocopy or secure digital copy of your passport identification page separate from the original. If your citizenship, residency, or travel documents require additional permits or visas, arrange them before the tour begins.
This tour begins directly at the designated Morocco Guided Tours hotel in Marrakech on the first day. Meet your Tour Director and fellow travelers at the welcome mixer at the time listed in your final tour documents. The guided program concludes in Fes after the free morning on Day 8. Exact hotel names, meeting times, and local contact details will be provided in your final tour documents.
This is a high physical activity-level, brisk-paced tour. You can expect to be on the move regularly and encounter uneven surfaces. The pace reflects hotel changes (including a 1-night stay in the Dades Valley and two consecutive nights in the Sahara region), several full days of included sightseeing and overland travel, and driving days of 5 hours or more broken up with planned stops. Most transportation is by private motor coach, with 4x4 vehicles used for selected desert activities.
Travelers should be prepared to walk approximately 2-4 miles on active sightseeing days, including narrow medina lanes, cobblestones, steps, slopes, packed earth, and sand. Some historic sites and riads have uneven stairs, low thresholds, or limited handrails. Desert terrain is sandy and uneven. Camel riding requires balance and the ability to mount and dismount with assistance from local handlers. Travelers should be healthy enough to participate in included walks without individualized physical assistance. Optional excursions can increase the amount of walking.
Morocco’s climate varies significantly by region. Marrakech and Fes can be warm during the day, while mountain and desert areas may be much cooler after sunset. Desert temperatures can shift sharply between day and night, so layers are important even during warmer seasons. Mountain weather and road conditions can change quickly. Your Tour Director may adjust stops or routing when conditions require it.
Morocco Guided Tours staff and guides focus on the safety and smooth operation of the full group and cannot provide continuous individualized mobility or luggage assistance. The itinerary follows scheduled visits and driving times, so the group may not always be able to delay activities for one traveler. Wheelchairs and walkers can be difficult to use in old medinas, historic buildings, mountain stops, and desert terrain. Contact Morocco Guided Tours before booking if you have mobility concerns.
Major transfers are by private motor coach or similar private vehicle. Selected Sahara activities use 4x4 vehicles on paved, gravel, or desert tracks. The included sunset desert experience may use camels when local and weather conditions allow; an alternative may be available for travelers who do not wish to ride. Roads through the Atlas Mountains and between the Sahara and Fes can be winding and travel times may change because of weather or road conditions. Space on group vehicles is limited (one medium suitcase and one small day bag recommended). For the Sahara camp, a small overnight bag is strongly recommended because larger suitcases may remain in the support vehicle.
Pack lightweight, breathable clothing that can be layered, plus a warmer layer for mountain and desert evenings. Bring sturdy walking shoes or sneakers with good traction. Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) and a reusable water bottle are useful throughout. Morocco is a Muslim-majority country; dress and behavior that are respectful of local customs are appreciated (clothing covering shoulders and knees). Always ask permission before photographing people or artisans at work. Bargaining is common in many souks. Bring a universal travel adapter (two-pin European style).
Morocco Guided Tours selects accommodations for a balance of location, comfort, atmosphere, and access to the itinerary. City stays may include hotels or riads with private sleeping accommodations for solo travelers. The Sahara stay is more remote than a city hotel; electricity, hot water, heating, cooling, and Wi-Fi may be more limited or operate only at certain times. Some accommodations are located on narrow streets where vehicles cannot stop directly at the entrance, so a short walk with luggage may be necessary.
Optional activities are subject to availability, minimum participation, local conditions, and scheduling with the main itinerary. Before travel, consult your healthcare provider about personal health needs and routine medications. Bring enough prescription medication for the full tour and keep it with you in your day bag. Tell Morocco Guided Tours in advance about serious food allergies or dietary restrictions. Drink water regularly and use safe drinking water when advised by your Tour Director.
This tour includes seven breakfasts, one lunch, and three dinners (including a welcome dinner and farewell dinner). Moroccan cuisine features tagines, couscous, harira, pastilla, grilled meats, salads, and seasonal vegetables. Mint tea is central to hospitality. Tipping is customary in Morocco for Tour Directors, local guides, drivers, and restaurant staff; cash in Moroccan dirhams (MAD) is most convenient. Credit cards are accepted at many hotels and larger shops, but cash remains essential in medinas, small shops, and rural areas.
Wi-Fi is available at many hotels and riads, though speed varies and connectivity may be limited in mountain areas and the Sahara. A Morocco Guided Tours Tour Director will accompany the group throughout the guided journey, supported by local guides in selected destinations. On-tour emergency support contact information will be provided in final tour documents. Please practice responsible travel: support local businesses, respect local customs, conserve water in desert regions, stay on established paths, and carry out any litter.
